Mythic + History

Ever since Legion, M+ has been gaining momentum as a popular activity for Mythos members. While we do not have a formal M+ activity, we have had several groups and individuals participate over time.

Occasionally we put together a dedicated team to push higher keys. The history of these teams is tracked below.

Battle for Azeroth

Team Kraken

Lineup

Runningelk (Guardian Druid)

Ceta (Holy Priest)

Skkasa (Unholy DK)

Taele (Frost Mage)

Therin (Beastmaster Hunter)

Their Story...

Team Kraken was formed after we cleared Heroic Ny'alotha with the goal of completing the Keystone Conqueror +15 achievement for Season 4 of Battle for Azeroth. Runningelk wanted to push for this and handpicked his team. For a group that had never put a lot of effort into learning the subtleties of the dungeons and the affixes, we were inspired by watching the MDI and decided that this was something we wanted to try for.

The first two months of this felt like beating our heads against the wall. It was an entirely new experience to try and push these higher keys and learn the dungeons so specifically that we could anticipate every pull... every enemy... every ability.

But with persistence came providence. July is when we finally hit our stride and we started knocking out our +15s. It seemed every 3 weeks or so we improved our maximum key we could clear, which was a great feeling.

Our final nemesis was Junkyard which eluded us largely as a key drop. We spent 2 weeks fishing for a key. We finally lucked out with a +17 which gave us 3 chances at it and we got it in 2 on August 22nd with a perfect run!

Everyone had to learn new things about their spec, and push their efforts to the limit! It was a phenomenal effort and we feel much closer together than we have before.

Congratulations to everyone for their hard work over these 3 months!

Mythics for Dinner

Lineup

Willa (Vengeance Demon Hunter)

Ellestria (Holy Priest)

Leiris (Retribution Paladin)

Raynewreck (Beastmaster Hunter)

Ritavu (Shadow Priest)

Their Story...

Mythics for Dinner formed when Willa recruited Ellestria, Ritavu, Leiris, and Raynewreck to complete the BFA Season 4 keystone master. To make the team work, Willa had to swap from his Havoc melee DPS spec to learn to tank as Vengeance for the first time, and Ellestria needed to gear up fast to catch up with the other raiders. Fortunately, Spirit of Redemption was a great insurance policy in those early practice runs in the Motherlode and Waycrest Manor.

The group found early success in Operation: Mechagon, and the Junkyard and Workshop quickly became favorites for leveling up keys. Rapid progress on Waycrest Manor and Shrine of the Storm +15 keys built the group’s confidence as a team, and soon Mythics for Dinner started relying on a strategy of trying to clear Junkyard or Workshop with a +16 key, practice a new dungeon on the +17 key, then use the next week’s +16 key to double-run the same dungeon for best results.

When the list narrowed to Atal’Dazar and Tol Dagor, concerns began to rise about needing to farm cleared dungeons for progression keys. Atal’Dazar keys were few and far between, and Tol Dagor was shaping up to be their greatest challenge, stubbornly resisting defeat. But after a Fortified/Sanguine/Quaking week, practicing and perfecting the skips and the pulls and all the quirks of the cramped prison, the team felt like they were ready for anything the dungeon could throw at them.

Fortunately, Ellestria managed to pull a +16 Tol Dagor key the following week. Unfortunately, the combination of Tyrannical/Bolstering/Explosive managed to spoil every run – a crushing disappointment. MFD rolled through a +15 Freehold and went home to lick their wounds.

The lack of any Tol Dagor or Atal’dazar keys the following week seemed like another insult to injury, except that Team Kraken happened to have an Atal’dazar key of their own that they no longer needed. RunningElk swapped with Willa to share his key (since Willa had already cleared that dungeon), and finished the +15 with 90 seconds to spare, and earned a new +16 Tol Dagor key to boot!  RunningElk then took the team to Tol Dagor to slay the beast – only to be defeated by twice again by Fortified/Bursting/Volcanic.

Hope was not lost however. The next night, MFD convened again with Willa to clear his +16 Workshop key. The familiar dungeon was a return to form for the team, and they were rewarded, against all odds, with another +17 Tol Dagor key!

With 3 more chances, the MFD reassembled on Monday night and charged once more unto the breach. Although initially successful, the team had some missteps with chain pulls to keep pace with time, and ultimately wiped on the final boss when trash pulled through the wall on the final ascent and attacked Ellestria through the floor. With one final try on a reset +15 key, Mythics for Dinner resolved to avoid every mistake and perfect every pull. Even so, once again trash pulled through the wall on the approach to the final boss. With no more second chances, the group forged ahead regardless. Ritavu was killed shortly after the final boss pull after three Things From Beyond spawned simultaneously with no escape, but the rest of the team completed the encounter successfully and saved the day!
